They say the captain tore it from a serpent’s back — a beast coiled in the deep, older than the maps, slick with salt and silence. Others claim it was payment from a sea-witch, bartered for a heart, or perhaps a memory best forgotten.
In truth, no one knows how the pirate came by it — only that he wore it always, heavy on his wrist, links of bronze glinting like sunken treasure, with a single charm rattling like a warning in the wind. A skull and crossbones, grinning wide, as if it knew secrets the crew dared not ask.
Some say the bracelet was a ward. Others, a mark of a pact not yet paid. But when the captain vanished — ship and all — it was the only thing left behind, tangled in a net near a cursed isle no sailor speaks of twice.
