Collected during late season, once the leaf had begun to soften at the edges. Form remains intact; the characteristic fan shape is preserved, though the central division extends deeper than usual, producing a bilateral spread reminiscent of paired wings.
Drying produces slight curling along the outer rim. The surface contracts unevenly, emphasising the fine radiating veins. Structure holds. No tearing observed.
Copper adheres first at the stem attachment, then progresses outward across the leaf. The veins guide its spread toward the outer edge. The underlying pattern dictates the final surface. No correction required.
Variation between specimens is minimal. Differences occur mainly in the depth of the central division and the degree of edge wear. In this instance, the division is pronounced, giving the form a more symmetrical, winged appearance.
The surface develops irregular colouration, with warmer copper tones interrupted by areas of blue and green.
Margin note:
Set this one aside from the others. The shape is difficult to ignore.
